Doctors Make Mistakes. Can we talk about that?

May 20, 2013 at 10:18 AM

By: Melinda Van Niel

goldman.pngDr. Brian Goldman gives a great TED Talk on mistakes in health care. Clinicians feel alone, ashamed and unsupported when they make mistakes-- and mistakes are only human. Dr. Goldman believes that we would be much better off if our culture supported talking about mistakes rather than bottling up unhealthy shame, and so do the members of MACRMI. It is important to share mistakes so that learning can take place, and so that the same mistakes can be prevented by systems in the future if possible. Please watch Dr. Goldman's poignant lecture here.
