  • Massachusetts Medical Society, a statewide association of physicians with over 24,000 members. MMS publishes the New England Journal of Medicine, a leading global medical journal and web site, and Journal Watch alerts and newsletters covering 12 specialties. The Society is also a leader in continuing medical education for health care professionals throughout Massachusetts, conducting a variety of medical education programs for physicians and health care professionals. Founded in 1781, MMS is the oldest continuously operating medical society in the country.
     
  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), one of the nation's preeminent academic medical centers. A major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC is ranked each year as a "Best Hospital" by U.S. News & World Report in multiple specialties. BIDMC is a fully integrated medical center, providing adult care, with over 1,250 full-time staff. BIDMC is home to a renowned academic research program, and ranks third in the country for National Institutes of Health funding among independent hospitals. BIDMC's focus on safe and quality patient care has helped establish it as a national leader in healthcare quality, safety and transparency, and its related initiatives are often held up as a model for other institutions.
     
  • Baystate Health (BH), a leading healthcare provider located in Western Massachusetts employing nearly 10,000. Baystate Medical Center (BMC) is the western campus of Tufts University School of Medicine. BMC provides a level 1 trauma center and Baystate Children's Hospital provides neonatal and pediatric intensive care units as well as a Children's Emergency Room. Baystate Franklin Medical Center and Baystate Mary Lane Hospital complete the trio of inpatient facilities. BH also employs over 400 physicians and owns a provider sponsored health plan, Health New England, with 125,000 members. BH has received the Thomson Reuters 15 Top Health Systems Award, while BMC has won multiple Leapfrog Group Top Hospital awards as well as multiple U.S. News & World Report commendations. Baystate Health prides itself on a comprehensive and innovative quality and safety program, including an ongoing Disclosure & Apology Program inaugurated in 2007. 
     
  • Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors, a public-private partnership whose mission is to improve patient safety and eliminate medical errors in Massachusetts. The Coalition's membership includes consumer organizations, state agencies, hospitals, professional associations for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and long-term care, as well as health plans, employers, policymakers, and researchers. The Coalition promotes a systems-oriented approach to improving patient safety, identifying the causes of medical errors, and developing and supporting implementation of strategies for prevention. The Coalition also leverages the efforts of its member organizations to accomplish the shared goal of improving patient safety.
     
  • Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA), a voluntary, not-for-profit organization composed of hospitals and health systems, related organizations, and other members with a common interest in promoting the good health of the people of the Commonwealth. Through leadership in public advocacy, education, and information, MHA represents and advocates for the collective interests of its members and supports their efforts to provide high quality, cost effective and accessible care. 
     
  • Medically Induced Trauma Support Services (MITSS), a nonprofit whose mission is to support patients, families, and clinicians who have been affected by adverse medical events. MITSS achieves this mission by creating awareness through education and offering direct support services to patients, families and clinicians.
     
  • The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, which serves the public by striving to ensure that only qualified physicians are licensed to practice in the Commonwealth, to ensure that those physicians and healthcare institutions in which they practice provide to their patients a high standard of care, and to support an environment that maximizes the high quality of health care in Massachusetts. The Board investigates complaints, holds hearings and determines sanctions. These functions are critical to protecting the public by ensuring that only competent physicians and acupuncturists are practicing in Massachusetts.
     
  • The Massachusetts Bar Association was founded in 1910, and is a non-profit organization that serves the legal profession and the public by promoting the administration of justice, legal education, professional excellence and respect for the law. The MBA represents a diverse group of attorneys, judges and legal professionals across the commonwealth.
     
  • Atrius Health is a  a non-profit alliance, to transform the delivery of health care in eastern Massachusetts. Its members are working together to develop better ways to coordinate care across multiple settings and find new and better ways to better coordinate home health services with ambulatory care. The combined Atrius Health groups offer over 35 specialties, from obstetrics to pediatrics, including oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, sports medicine, allergy, dermatology, surgery and behavioral health - as well as labs, imaging and pharmacies.
     
  • Sturdy Memorial Hospital is a locally-controlled, not-for-profit acute care community hospital which is dedicated to providing a broad range of health care services to the residents of its communities. The Hospital's mission is to provide high quality care to the sick and injured, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, without regard for race, creed, national origin, age, gender, disability, or ability to pay.
